Program Overview

The Tribe Co-work & Urban Innovation Lab is a cutting-edge entrepreneurial hub created through a strategic public-private partnership between the SEOPW CRA, Code Fever, and the Simkins Foundation. The project centered on the extensive interior renovation and adaptive reuse of an existing 8,200-square-foot historic building. Formatted as a state-of-the-art technology and business incubator, the facility features three modern conference rooms, dedicated classrooms, private executive offices, flexible open-desk workstations, a shared community kitchen, and an outdoor work oasis designed to support small businesses, freelance professionals, and community organizers.

‍

Community Impact

This innovative commercial project directly combats local economic disparities by transforming a historic structure into an accessible launchpad for minority-owned tech startups and creative entrepreneurs. By establishing a professional workspace right in the heart of Historic Overtown, the lab eliminates local innovation deserts and lowers high overhead barriers for homegrown businesses. The facility serves as a vital community anchor and ecosystem builder, hosting premier national tech events like Black Tech Week, facilitating critical mentor-matching programs, and housing major community-building organizations. This targeted CRA infrastructure investment ensures that local innovators have the technology, resources, and collaborative networks required to scale their ventures and actively participate in South Florida’s booming digital economy.
